Survival maps are those that require survival skills. A map is made with many challenging obstacles, usually enemies, to avoid. Often, there is no gold and no exit. The point of a Survival map is to see what length of a demo can be created. There is usually a lot of competition between players on these kinds of maps. A manifesto has been written by blue_tetris (or Dave) to aid mapmakers in making survival maps.
